Paul was very nervous. It was his first day at his new job, and he did not want to be late. He checked the address on his phone three times.
He arrived at 8:55 — five minutes early. Perfect.
He walked inside and smiled at the receptionist. "Good morning! I'm Paul. Today is my first day."
The woman looked at him. "Your first day... at a veterinary clinic?"
Paul looked around. There were dogs, cats, and one very unhappy parrot in a cage. He looked at his phone again. He had typed the wrong street number.
"I'm in the wrong place, aren't I?" he said.
"It happens more than you think," said the woman, trying not to laugh.
Paul ran six blocks to his actual office and arrived at 9:03. His new boss looked at him quietly.
"Sorry I'm late," Paul said, slightly out of breath. "I was at the vet."
His boss stared at him for a long moment. "I won't ask."
